What can I say? This is a stunning wine. You pay dearly for it, but the 1991 Alto Adige Terlaner Rarity is precious indeed. This is the winery's historic blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc that has been produced since the founding of the winery in 1893. This special selection of fruit results in a mere 3,340 bottles, and you'll recognize them by the heavy metal plate that serves as a front label. This wine has magically defied the years as it presents a succession of pure and beautiful aromas that underline the impressive quality of the primary fruit. Tertiary notes (and they are surprisingly subtle) come forward in terms of mineral, ash and crushed flint. The complexity soars to the stratosphere. It's impossible to assign a drinking window to a wine that seems to have not aged at all since 1991.

This is always such a delicious wine. The 2015 Alto Adige Terlano Sauvignon Quarz delivers an impressive sense of purity and razor-sharp varietal precision. There is a lot of vertical depth on the bouquet, with deeply layered aromas that span from stone fruit and white mineral to soy sauce and dried rosemary. The effect is very beautiful and also a bit unusual in a flirtatious, exotic way. This was a warm vintage, and the intensity meter seems to be dialed up a notch as a result.
  • Lunare '15

    93 Punkte
The 2015 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Lunare is a terrific wine that offers the evident softness and floral intensity that you associate with the grape, along with a more elegant and streamlined personality that comes from the cool climate north of Italy. The wine opens to aromas of white rose, star jasmine, honeysuckle and peach blossom. The effect is balanced and fresh, but there is enough density to pair with spicy or exotic dishes. This wine boasts extraordinary textural richness. The wine ages in large oak casks and in stainless steel.
  • Vorberg '14

    92 Punkte
This wine is always high on my list of favorite picks from Alto Adige. Despite the challenging vintage, the 2014 Alto Adige Terlano Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg walks a delicate line between power and elegance. The bouquet offers subtle tones of white peach with Golden Delicious apple and crushed mineral. Pineapple and preserved lemon are also small but tangy parts of the overall ensemble. There is a very mild level of toastiness with roasted almond and honey. The wine offers tight and rich texture overall.
  • Terlaner Cuvée '16

    92 Punkte
The 2016 Alto Adige Terlano Classico is a delightful blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. This wine really delivers the goods with a clean and buoyant bouquet followed by beautifully polished aromas of stone fruit, dried sage, passion fruit and a tough of piquant white peppercorn. The effect is super snappy and zesty, and the wine awakens your taste buds in a cheerful and direct manner. This vintage really stands apart for its excellence. This is a fantastic wine at an honest price.
  • Nova Domus '14

    91 Punkte
Made with 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2014 Alto Adige Terlano Riserva Nova Domus is put together very nicely. The bouquet offers a slight hint of reduction that may be a result of the difficult vintage. With a few quick swirls of the glass, the wine comes into better focus with stone fruit, Golden Delicious apple and pencil shavings. The finish is a bit sour and tart but lively and boisterous nonetheless. This vintage offers less overall value.
  • Pinot Grigio '16

    90+ Punkte
The Cantina Terlano 2016 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio is a bright and forthcoming white wine with an impeccably clean and snappy style. The wine shows delicate tones of white peach, nectarine and passion fruit. There are subtle tones of dried hay or garden herb at the back. This is a great pairing partner to spicy foods or sushi.
